Description

Learn about David Rittenhouse, a brilliant astronomer, mathematician, and talented clockmaker and explore his impact on the scientific community and the extraordinary legacy of his clocks. The lecture will be presented by Donald L. Fennimore, curator emeritus and author of David Rittenhouse: Philosopher-Mechanick of Colonial Philadelphia and His Famous Clocks. The book addresses the life and work of Rittenhouse and includes illustrations of timepieces not previously seen, including orreries, telescopes, surveying compasses, and other scientific equipment. Lecture followed by book signing. Included with admission. Members free.
