Parks, Trails & Pathways

The Wilmington area offers countless opportunities to explore and enjoy the outdoors! In addition to almost 70 city parks, a state park, and two national park sites available right here in Wilmington, there are chances just beyond the city boundaries that are available for Wilmington residents and visitors to enjoy. Within a few minutes’ drive of Wilmington you can take a hike through dense wooded areas or enjoy a kayak ride in the tranquil Brandywine Creek State Park, go rock climbing in Alapocas Run, explore the history of Fort Delaware and Old New Castle, or just take a walk through the open fields on the former Woodlawn properties that now make up part of the First State National Historic Park.

Please take a moment to learn more about all of the amenities that the Delaware State Parks have to offer just minutes from Wilmington, or about a trip to the numerous sites that make up the First State National Historic Park.
