Description
Thomas Viloteau absolutely wowed us in 2018 with his incredible technique and musicianship. Thomas returns this season with his partner in life and in music, guitarist and singer Alexandra Iranfar-Viloteau. Together they blend their two guitars and her soprano voice to create purely musical and inspiring moments. This will be a night to remember.

MASTERCLASS
10/15/22: Thomas Viloteau will also be teaching a masterclass in the afternoon of October 15 at 1:30 pm in the West Room of Presbyterian Church of the Covenant. The masterclass is free to observe and open to the public, but registration is required. Register as an auditor to sit in and hear what Mr. Viloteau has to teach our guest performers, or register as a performer for your chance to perform for Thomas and have him critique your performance (a small tuition fee applies). ABOUT THE ARTISTS
French guitar phenomenon Thomas Viloteau is widely considered one of the most gifted classical guitarists today.
He has won first place in an impressive list of some of the worldโs finest competitions such as the Guitar Foundation of America competition, the Francisco Tรกrrega and Andrรฉs Segovia competitions in Spain, the Mottola competition in Italy, the Sernancelhe competition in Portugal, and the Ville dโAntony competition in France.
Since then, he has gone on to concertize in some of the best venues throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Norway, Sweden, Great Britain, Taiwan, and Puerto Rico.
He is the recipient of the Arthur Foote Award from the Harvard Musical Association and he has been the Artist-in-Residence at the radio show Performance Today, broadcasting his performances to more than a million people across the USA.
Dr. Thomas Viloteau is on the guitar faculty at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.
Internationally-acclaimed classical guitarist and soprano Alexandra Iranfar-Viloteau is from Los Angeles, California, USA. Hailed by the San Francisco Examiner as a โSong Stylistโ, Alexandra stuns audiences with her virtuosic abilities as both classical guitarist and soprano with her charismatic artistry and genre defying repertoire. Described by the European film collective Open Strings Berlin as โโฆnot only a phenomenal classical guitarist, but soprano singer, she can be her own duo partner and perform the most beautiful repertoire for voice and guitar by herselfโฆโ
Ranging from Brazilian fado, art song, early music, to new commissions; Alexandra does it all with remarkable versatility. Alexandra has commissioned over a dozen pieces for her unique abilities including GRAMMY award-winning composers Christopher Tin and Sergio Assad. Concerts and collaborations include performances with San Diego Guitar Festival, Guggenheim NYC, SFMOMA Ragnar Kjartansonโs exhibit, de Young Museum of Art, Xicameri, South African Embassy, Berkeley Piano Club, Herbst Theater Green Room, Old First Concerts, Center for New Music, and has been featured on NPR KALW 91.7 FM affiliate โRevolutions per Minuteโ. She has released two chamber albums with acclaimed SopraDuo and One Great City Duo whom the San Francisco Examiner describes as an โinnovative new duo.โ
Alexandra earned a Master of Music and Professional Studies Diploma in Guitar Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She received her Bachelor of Music degree in Guitar Performance from the Peabody Conservatory of Music of the Johns Hopkins University where she double majored in classical guitar and classical voice.
Alexandra Iranfar-Viloteau teaches in Washington DC where she is the Chair of the Suzuki Guitar Department at Levine Music.
