Description
What sparks your sense of freedom? Delaware Shakespeare will contemplate this question with a performative reading of the Declaration of Independence. Throughout the performance, Del Shakes artists will weave in readings from underrepresented in the original creation of the Declaration including writings from Frederick Douglas, Indigenous poetry, stories of queer joy and acceptance, and more! Join us in celebration of independence, community, and the unique “embers of freedom” that connect us all.
Delaware Shakespeare is excited to partner with the Delaware Historical Society, Lewes Library, and Urban Artist Exchange.
