Shining a (Warm) Light on The Queen

Old man winter may have been furious Saturday evening in Wilmington, Delaware but inside World Café Live at The Queen it was sunny and 75…

Literally, The Queen Theater was jam-packed for Shine A Light on 1975. The annual tribute concert in support of The Light up The Queen Foundation was sold out for the third year in a row! Hundreds of people were shaking to their favorite 70’s tunes. Every genre you could think of was performed, from rock to folk right on down to Wilmington’s local 70’s bands that made a grand return. If you do not know what The Shine A Light on The Queen Foundation is, here is your chance to find out!

The Light Up the Queen Foundation, a Delaware non-profit corporation, is dedicated to the revival of the historic Queen Theater in Wilmington, Delaware, and to assuring that The Queen becomes a catalyst for building community. Through various outreach programs, The Queen Theater provides hands-on music programs to local downtown Wilmington schools and other non-profit organizations with limited arts-education funding.

So now that you are educated on the cause-here is a little information on how this concert is extra special!

     • Over 60 musicians from various bands collaborate for a one-of-a-kind show. The band members don’t perform with their usual groups, but jump on and off the stage continuously for an over-the-top jam session. As you can imagine, this takes some carefully planned and well-rehearsed practice. These musicians spend hours upon hours together to get everything just perfect!

• The entire event is put together by a stupendously fun group of volunteers that not only have a passion for music, but for the city of Wilmington and the cause!
