Description
In 1930, Texas senator Morris Sheppard famously said, “There is as much chance of repealing the eighteenth amendment as there is for a hummingbird to fly to the planet Mars with the Washington Monument tied to its tail.”
Between 1905 and 1917 the Volstead Act brought and end to the manufacture, sale, and transportation of alcoholic beverages. Liquor consumption dropped and the price for illegal alcohol rose, but that did not stop those who wanted to keep drinking. Speakeasy clubs became prominent and the demand for alcohol outweighed the demand for sobriety during that time. Nights to celebrate some of life’s simplest pleasures were in these speakeasy establishments, and that is why we are bringing C.R’s Hummingbird to Mars to Trolley Square. Elegantly crafted cocktails, fine wine, and brilliantly prepared food bring this establishment to life. So join us after dusk, to travel back to a time of elegance and sophistication, and enjoy some of life’s simplest pleasures!
