Honor a Veteran! Take a leisurely round-trip ride up the Red Clay Valley to our Mt. Cuba Picnic Grove, where you can de-train to enjoy a 20 minute layover along the banks of the Red Clay Creek to have a picnic or simply admire the natural surroundings. If you don’t want to get off the train at Mt. Cuba, you can remain onboard and travel further up the line through the communities of Ashland and Yorklyn. On the return trip, we’ll make a brief stop at Mt. Cuba to pick up the picnic passengers. This event is powered by either our historic first-generation diesel locomotive, by our 1929 Pennsylvania Railroad Doodlebug railcar, or by one of our antique steam locomotives.
