A program recognizes the moral leadership ofThomas Garrett and his partnership with Harriet Tubman, centered around the display of Garrett’s historic tea set as a symbol of sanctuary, resistance, and radical hospitality.
The event features the silver service presented to Thomas Garrett in1866 in thanks for his great humanitarian efforts in freeing slaves through his home in Quaker Hill. There will be a talk by Linda Garrett McDonald, a direct descendant of Thomas Garrett about the history of the tea service as well as crafts and entertainment for children. It is open to the public and free of charge.
