N.C., Andrew, and Jamie Wyeth all approach painting with a uniquely keen observation, honed to perfection, by developing ideas and techniques through innumerable studies. Rather than moving directly to a finished painting, they often created dozens, sometimes hundreds, of preparatory studies in pencil or watercolor. These studies allow them to explore composition, light, gesture, and emotion, refining their ideas slowly over time. Seen together, the studies offer a rare glimpse inside the mind of the artist, showing moments of uncertainty, discovery, and decision that remain hidden beneath the surface of the final work.
This rare collection of studies and exceptional final paintings is on view from April 17 through June 13, 2026. Hours: Tuesday – Saturday, 10:00 – 5:00 pm.
