Description

An entire year of wooded adventures (and great brunches) await Rockwood’s visitors in 2023 with a dynamic line-up of guest speakers for the seasonal Hike & Brunch program.

In the spring and fall, guest lecturers take brunch-crowds on a 60-90 minute walk/hike through Rockwood and its adjoining parks to dig into variety of natural topics. The themed brunches are provided by Prime Hospitality ad always feature our signature Bloody Marys. From mushrooms to minerals this schedule will delight every palette and interest.

Sat | 10 am – 1 pm | 3/18 
Local food forager extraordinaire, Jim Black, returns to Rockwood to show hikers his maple tree sap extraction method and to sample syrup he creates from tress throughout the region. Followed by a maple-inspired brunch.

Sun | 10 am – 1 pm | 4/23 
Charles H. Shattuck IV, of Wild Birds Unlimited in Hockessin, will take hikers into the woods to for a birding session to witness firsthand this nesting season and to introduce visitors to the migrating birds in Delaware during spring. South American-inspired brunch to follow in honor of their migration destinations.

PART 1: Debbie Naha-Koretzky, the Wild Edibles Lady and author of Foraging: Pennsylvania and New Jersey, returns to Rockwood for a special Mother’s Day hike to show the delicious plants that grow wild in the spring. Seasonal wild-inspired brunch to follow.
