Description
We all know learning is more fun when you’re drinking with friends. Thus, Nerd Nite is a monthly event held in 100+ cities (like Tokyo, Miami, London, Fargo, and New York) during which folks give 20-minute fun-yet-informative presentations across all disciplines – while the audience drinks along! Must be 21 or older to attend this event.
January’s Presentations Include:
- The Silent Animation Stars Before Mickey: Gertie, Felix, and Oswald with Matthew Kurth
Who are the early stars who shaped cartoon history? Learn about Gertie the Dinosaur, Felix the Cat, and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Perfect for animation fans, history buffs, and anyone curious about where movie magic began!
- Three may keep a secret…The psychology of conspiracy theories with Brendan Hickey
What makes conspiracy theories so fascinating? Explore the psychology behind why they’re appealing, how they can resemble scientific theories, who is more likely to believe them, and the cognitive biases that keep them going.
- The Political Ideology of American Housepets with Shyam Kulkarni
Ever wonder what your cat or dog is thinking when they give you that plotting look? Are they dreaming of leading a grand adventure? Join an exploration of the quirky dimensions of contemporary American political ideologies to determine which cats seek to Meow America Great Again, and which ones want Meowdicare For All.
There is free parking on site and the 025 bus stops right out front of Wilmington Brew Works.
Nerd Nite Wilmington takes place at 6 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of every month at Wilmington Brew Works. Wilmington Brew Works is located at 3129 Miller Rd, Wilmington, DE 19802.
