Description
Jennifer Small, Left at the Balcony Across the Footbridge
Jennifer Small elevates the every day to express appreciation for the wonder of the ordinary. She is a collector of images from the orbit of her everyday life. The bike rack, a footbridge, and a bit of graffiti all play a role in her paintings. Like a visual journal, Jennifer’s paintings tell the story of her daily routines. These encounters, with the things in her orbit, reveal how the ordinary can be a continuous source of inspiration. Jennifer distills and reprocesses these banal moments into complex compositions that reflect the rhythmic pulses of urban living. She finds connections and affinities among the varying images. Her energetic use of color creates new and unexpected spaces to explore.
Jennifer Small is a Pennsylvania native. She received her undergraduate degree from Millersville University and her MFA degree from Savannah College of Art and Design. Jennifer has exhibited in museums and galleries in Philadelphia, New York, Washington DC, Chicago, and Richmond. Her media features have included New American Paintings, Studio Visit Magazine, Studio Break Podcast, and various other blogs and online publications. Jennifer’s work is a dynamic and lively interpretation of life in Wilmington, Delaware, where she lives and works.
