Description
The DuPont Environmental Education Center, in partnership with FourYouth, Green Box Kitchen, OwnPace Run Club, Delaware Interscholastic MTB League and Sierra Club Delaware Chapter, invites you to participate in “Nature in Our Neighborhood: Move for Mental Wellness,” a community-centered Earth Day event focused on movement, environmental stewardship, and education.
This free, family-friendly event will provide an opportunity to engage with nature, learn about environmental justice, and contribute to efforts that support a cleaner, healthier community.
Event Schedule
Morning Wellness Walk, Run, or Bike Ride
- 10:00 AM –DuPont Environmental Education Center
- Enjoy a healthy breakfast before beginning the day’s activities from Green Box Kitchen.
- 10:30 AM – Walk, Run, or Bike to Southbridge Wetlands Park
- A community-led movement activity hosted by OwnPace Run Club promoting physical and mental well-being while exploring the local environment.
Earth Day Cleanup and Conservation Efforts
- 11:00 AM – Stewardship at Southbridge Wetlands Park
- Volunteers will assist in removing litter and invasive plants, contributing to the restoration of this vital green space.
Lunch and Environmental Justice Conversation
- 12:30 PM – Healing Circle & Discussion at DuPont Environmental Education Center
- A guided conversation on community-driven environmental justice solutions led by Marissa Chair – Sierra Club and Thea Lopez – Delaware Nature Society, accompanied by lunch provided by Green Box Kitchen.
Earth Day Crafts and Take-Home Plants
Participants will have the opportunity to create Earth Day-themed crafts and take home a plant as a reminder of their commitment to environmental sustainability.
Additional Information
- Light refreshments will be available throughout the day.
- Transportation between event locations will be provided to those in need.
How to Participate
This event is open to all community members, and participation is encouraged regardless of experience or background. Attendees may join for individual activities or remain for the full day.
