Description
Join ‘de-vine’ workdays! Every Saturday we remove English ivy and other invasive vines from strangling nearby trees. Why? Because they wrap tightly around and over trees, making them more susceptible to breaking branches, serious diseases, and eventually death. We can’t afford to lose more trees in the park!
What we do: Cut vines at ground level and remove 4″ sections.
How: Using handsaws, loppers, pruners, and chisels.
Bring: hand saws, pruners, loppers, chisels and work gloves…..or just come for fun & learning!
Where: We meet at the Josephine Fountain and walk a short distance to our site.
If you’re not already a volunteer with DE State Parks, you can create an account, follow the prompts to sign the volunteer waiver and register for this or future events.
Come meet your neighbors who are passionate about keeping our park healthy for generations to come. No experience is necessary, as you’ll learn plant identification and how to properly manage invasive vines.
