British guitarist and songwriter, began his professional career as a session musician for Joe Meek and as a member of the instrumental band The Outlaws as well as a backing musician for pop singers Glenda Collins, Heinz, Screaming Lord Sutch, Neil Christian, Jerry Lee Lewis etc..
Blackmore was also one of the original members of Deep Purple, playing jam-style rock music which mixed his guitar riffs with Jon Lord’s organ sounds spotlighting his blistering guitar solos. During his solo career, he established neo-classical metal band Rainbow, which fused early music influences elements with hard rock. Rainbow gradually progressed to catchy pop style hard rock.
In 1997, Blackmore formed the renaissance folk rock project Blackmore’s Night transitioning to more acoustic and vocalist-centered songs.
