Description
If you’ve been wanting to try a simple ceramics class but don’t have too much time, this may be a great class for you to start with. During this class you will learn how to cut shapes out of thin slabs of ceramic clay, finish the edges of the raw clay and decorate with some special Elan Transfer underglaze decal transfer images (including flowers, cats, and other imagery). Students will then press that clay with a 5” round GR Pottery Form to create the ring dish. Marsha will show students how to layer the underglaze decals with underglaze paints if you want to add some background color.
Students will make up to 3 ring dishes that will then be fired to over 2200F in a kiln off site. About 2 weeks after your class, Marsha will return your glazed pieces to Bellefonte Arts where you will have a couple of weeks to pick them up. Pieces left for more than a month after your class will be considered a donation to Bellefonte Arts.
