Kim Easlick is a professional photographer currently based in Upstate, NY. Introduced to the world of film photography through a high school course, their dad generously gifted them their first digital camera, recognizing their passion for visual media. This ignited a hobby that has persisted since. Following their graduation from the University at Albany in 2021 with a B.A. in History, Kim completed two terms of national service with the AmeriCorps Public Allies program working with the Delaware Center for Horticulture. During Kim’s service at DCH, they had the chance to photograph various programming events and the seasonal progression of our gardens, discovering a love for using their art to further connect people with plants.
Now, as a graduate student studying Environmental Science & Policy at Bard College, Kim has continued their photography work through the management of the Bard Arboretum and Blithewood Garden Instagram accounts. Their photography primarily consists of plants, landscapes, and portraits. For their gallery show with DCH, they wanted to curate a collection that conveys the therapeutic effects of plants and greenspace, emphasizing the need for individuals to reconnect with the natural world amid climate-induced challenges.
Kim hopes “A Call to Reconnect” inspires individuals to develop a deeper understanding of the natural world around them and acts as a catalyst for reimagining how to engage with nature. This collection will feature a mixture of photos from their time at DCH and recent photos from their time in the Hudson Valley, available in smaller 4×6 prints as well as larger 11×14 and 16×20 framed pieces.
