The Ardens are a trio of artist colonies in North Wilmington that have been elevating arts and crafts as a way of life since Arden, the oldest of the three villages, was founded in 1900. Recently, the Arden Artisan Collective formed to promote the resident artisans and shine a light on this living tradition. Nature, too, plays an important role in the Ardens which boast 50% public green space and a 75% tree canopy. It is no coincidence that many of The Ardens’ artisans turn to nature outside their windows and along their walking paths for inspiration in their art. This Earth Day exhibit celebrates this love of the natural world as seen through the lens of our local artisans and through a variety of mediums including painting, sculpture, collage, and photography.
