Description

Join us for night of haunting Victorian holiday tales. We might just scare the Dickens out of you!

The Spooky Season Isn’t Over Yet!
Join us at Huxley & Hiro on Thursday, November 13th, from 7–9 PM for an evening of haunted tales from the Victorian era and Christmastime! Attendees are invited to bring a favorite story, share a sample of their own writing, or simply listen and be part of the fun!

How It Works:
Local author and historian G.R. Hastings will host a night of eerie storytelling inspired by the macabre charm of the Victorian period. Stories that stretch the theme are welcome, but let’s stay in the spirit of the season when we can!

You’re invited to share your own original piece or read an excerpt from a favorite book. (Yes, Dickens is absolutely welcome!) Each storyteller will have up to 10 minutes to share. Speakers are welcome to participate more than once, depending on ticket availability. If you plan to share multiple stories or speak in more than one session, please reserve a separate ticket for each speaking slot.

While we encourage a storytelling style over a straight read, either is perfectly fine. There will be themed snacks to enjoy and you’re welcome to bring something to share!

Important Notice for Speakers

To ensure an inclusive and organized experience, only pre-registered participants are guaranteed a speaking slot. If time permits, additional spots may open during the event, but availability is not guaranteed.

By signing up to speak, you agree to follow our Community Code of Conduct, which includes:

– Keeping content appropriate for ages 16+
– Avoiding graphic depictions of violence, abuse, or trauma
– Respecting the diverse experiences and identities of everyone present

Thank you for helping us create a welcoming, creative space for all storytellers and listeners alike!

This event is free to attend!

We encourage attendees to consider making a purchase at the bookstore, which helps ensure we can continue offering free community events.
