Description
The 34th Annual Clifford Brown Jazz Festival – Wilmington’s premier music event and the largest free jazz festival on the East Coast – will return to its original home in Rodney Square after becoming a virtual festival in June 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The festival is a tribute to Wilmington’s own Clifford Brown and is held in the City’s main public square, which is undergoing a multi-million-dollar renovation to make it more attractive and comfortable for residents and visitors.
The Festival’s Rodney Square main stage concerts will be held on Wednesday, August 4 through Sunday, August 8, with performances starting at 5:30 p.m. on the weekdays, at noon on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday. The festival remains free and open to the public. Whatever COVID-19 restrictions are in place at the time of the festival will be followed.
Sponsors include Delmarva Power, an Exelon Company, the Kenny Family Foundation, the City of Wilmington, Cityfest, Inc., the MidAtlantic Arts Foundation and the Delaware Division of the Arts. Presenting Arts partners include the Christina Cultural Arts Center and the Delaware Art Museum.
The performers for the 2021 jazz festival are available at www.cliffordbrownjazzfest.org along with artist bios. Visit the festival Facebook page at www.facebook.com/cliffordbrownjazzfest/ and cityfestwilm.com for more information..
