Olivia Rubini Joins Gregory Shelton’s Bowie Tribute

Wilmington’s Olivia Rubini will perform as main vocalist at Gregory Shelton’s David Bowie tribute, A Night of Stardust (David Bowie Remembered)

Area event producer and creator Gregory Shelton will present his annual David Bowie tribute, A Night of Stardust (David Bowie Remembered), on Saturday, Jan. 11 at the Theatre of Living Arts in Philadelphia. It’s the ninth year for Shelton’s Bowie tribute and the event will serve as the grand finale for Philly Loves Bowie Week.

Wilmington’s Olivia Rubini will perform as one of the show’s five main vocalists. Joining Rubini will be Camille K, Chris Day, Nitra and Johnny Showcase. Other vocalists may be added. Dan Kauffman is music director.

“I’m really excited to have fellow Delawarian Olivia Rubini perform as one of the five main vocalists in this year’s production,” says Shelton. “I’ve watched her rise as a vocalist, then seeing her success on the show The Voice makes everyone realize it isn’t always where you come from, it’s how you finish! Olivia’s voice reveals her love and respect for the greats from the ‘70s and ‘80s and I know David Bowie’s music is nestled perfectly in the middle of it.”

A Night of Stardust will be a chance to celebrate the legendary musician’s life with one of the largest Bowie-devoted shows you will ever see, adds Shelton. The event has featured many ex-Bowie band members, from guitarist Earl Slick and musical director/guitarist/bassist Mark Plati to vocalist Emm Gryner to Bowie muse Ava Cherry. The show will feature more than 25 of Bowie’s greatest songs (and deep cuts) from Space Oddity on.

Doors open at 7pm; show begins at 8:00 pm. Tickets are $30 and available at www.TLAPhilly.com.
