The Arts at Trinity (TAAT) opens its ’23-’24 season with a performance by the Oskar Stenmark Jazz Trio, which comes to Wilmington from Sweden, via New York City. The lyrical feel of Oskar Stenmark’s music has a distinctive Nordic cast, but the rhythms and harmonies come straight out of the NYC music scene. Accompanied by piano and acoustic bass, Oskar’s trumpet delivers an innovative mix of folk, jazz and improvisation. Born and raised in Sweden, where he remains active, Oskar Stenmark holds a master’s in jazz performance from the Manhattan School of Music. He has performed with David Byrne, Chris Potter and multiple GRAMMY Award-winning Maria Schneider Orchestra. Light refreshments will be served on Trinity Church’s patio before and after the concert. Admission is free; donations are gratefully accepted.
