Join Wilmington State Parks staff for a volunteer service project to help control invasive plants in Brandywine Park. The primary target will be English Ivy, though the project could be expanded.
From the AmeriCorps website:
Join us this MLK Day as we come together to build a Beloved Community. Let’s honor Dr. King’s legacy through service and volunteerism and demonstrate how joining together in service can transform your life and the lives of others. Whether it’s a small or big act of kindness, service has the power to unite people, build bridges, and heal divides.
Delaware State Parks is one of many organizations that offer opportunities to serve your community on this important holiday.
Invasive plants — plants not native to the region that grow aggressively, complete with native plants for resources, and displace native plants — present a growing challenge to local ecosystems. Join us to learn more about Norway Maple and to help Wilmington State Parks control it in Brandywine Park!
Note: Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
