Description
The DelArt Film Society hosts screenings every Saturday, with free screenings for members on the last Saturday of each month. Family-friendly screenings will take place on the second Sunday of each month. Refreshments will be available downstairs near DelArt’s 160-seat auditorium, including snacks from Kaffeina Cafe and a bar offering beer and wine. Please do not bring outside food or beverages. Water bottles may be brought in and filled at the station near the auditorium.
The Lion King
When tragedy causes young Simba, the heir to the throne, to flee vowing to never return, his uncle wastes no time taking the position of King for himself. With the help of his two friends he meets in the wild, Timon & Pumbaa, Simba soon finds that his destiny will lead him back to the Pride Lands to save his family.
Although it is not directly based on Hamlet, The Lion King shares similar themes with the play as well as Shakespeare’s Henry VI Part 1 and 2. It is considered one of the greatest animated movies of all time. The unforgettable Oscar-winning soundtrack hosts a score composed by Hans Zimmer and songs written by Elton John and Tim Rice.
