City Theater Company is proud to open its 29th season with ART, the Tony- and Olivier-award winning comedy written by Yasmina Reza and translated from the original French by Christopher Hampton.
ART originally premiered in 1994 in France, and enjoyed popular London and Broadway runs and many revivals. Its story is about three friends who find themselves at odds after one purchases a very pricey, all-white painting. The simple question “but is it art?” devolves to riotously comic effect as the trio grapples with the larger question of the more personal art of maintaining relationships.

ARTstars Nick Johnson as Marc in his CTC debut, and CTC alums Christian Deisler (Twelfth Night, Mrs. Bob Cratchit’s Wild Christmas Binge) as Serge and Emma Romeo (Once) as Yvan.
